Mid
Coast Hospital is Maine's most modern hospital having opened
in a completely new facility in 2001. We are an independent,
community, non-profit hospital accredited by the Joint Commission.
Our active medical staff, representing 30 primary care and specialty
areas, is the envy of most communities.
Licensed for 92 inpatient beds, the facility
opened with 74 beds. An expansion has been approved by the state
of Maine to add the remaining inpatient beds (19), to build
a new and redesigned emergency room, and to expand rooms for
preparation, consultation, and recovery in the diagnostics area.
Our hospital offers a full range of care
including in- and out-patient surgery, complete diagnostics,
cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, sleep lab, and wound care
center. Our maternity care center is home away from home for
families awaiting a new arrival; the beautiful rooms and welcoming
nursing staff and doctors are most appreciated at this very
special time. Our emergency and intensive care departments are
staffed round the clock with clinicians and physicians who have
many advanced certifications. Mental health programs include
not only our inpatient unit, but also out-patient mental health
and addiction programs for all ages--some of which work with
patients right in their own home. Click

The hospital is affiliated with CHANS
home health care, the Mid Coast Senior Health Center, Mid Coast
Medical Group, and Thornton Oaks Retirement Community.

Mid Coast Hospital is located in
Brunswick, Maine, on the confluence of US Route 1 and Interstate
295. Located along the Atlantic coast, the hospital is 40 minutes
north of Portland and and 40 minutes southwest of Maine's capital
Augusta. It is less than three hours from Boston. With these
major centers close by, the area boasts both the charm of Maine's
coast and the vigor of the big cities. Many declare the area
as one of the "prettiest little areas of the country."
Our primary service area includes 100,000
residents.
There is a little bit of history in every
one of the towns we serve. First settled shortly before the
Pilgrims landed south of here in Plymouth, by 1800 the towns
were providing textiles and naval stores among other goods.
Brunswick is home to Bowdoin College and U.S. Naval Air Station,
as well as Brunswick Technologies Inc, a manufacturing firm.
Freeport, neighboring to the immediate south, is home to L.L.Bean,
the outdoor and clothing retailer. In Bath, there is Bath Iron
Works where many Navy destroyers are being built. The region
is home to the Bowdoin Art Museum, Maine Maritime Museum, Perry
McMillan Arctic Museum, and the Joshua Chamberlain home and
museum. School systems, churches, and libraries are among the
finest in New England.
