Our Team at the Addiction Resource Center

Kelly Gleason   Leah Bauer, MD
Medical Director, ARC

Dr. Leah Bauer leads a team of six physicians within the Addiction Resource Center. Her leadership covers services such as psychiatry, medication assisted treatment for alcoholism, opioid dependency, and medication management for patients with a combination of addiction and mental health struggles.

Office Supervisor

Often one of the first faces patients see at ARC, Kelly and her staff of six conduct initial screenings, schedule appointments, and assist with patient accounts.

 
Thomas Kivler, LCPC, CCS   Thomas Kivler, LCPC, CCS
Director of Behavioral Health

Tom provides leadership for all aspects of Mid Coast Hospital’s wide-ranging Behavioral Health Division and oversees outpatient behavioral health services, including the Addiction Resource Center. As a trained child and family therapist, Tom has extensive experience providing counseling, crisis intervention and mental health services to children and families. He has been a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) since 1996 and a certified clinical supervisor (CCS) since 2005.

Social Worker and Certified Clinical Supervisor, Intake and Outpatient Coordinator

Teri oversees the team that completes all initial evaluations, resulting in individualized treatment options for all patients. Her evaluations determine medical necessity, risk, strengths, medical and psychiatric need, and result in plans of care for patients seeking help.

 
Shirley Russell, APRN-BC   Shirley Russell, APRN-BC
Advanced Practice Nurse Addiction Specialist

Shirley provides clinical supervision to the therapists working in ARC programs and also conducts initial evaluations to help determine plans of care. She also takes a lead role with the physician group monitoring patients, providing group therapy for co-occurring mental health and addiction issues, and provides assessment for medication assisted treatment services.

 
Jeff Stenzel, MD   Jeff Stenzel, MD
Division Medical Director

Jeff Stenzel is the lead physician for all Behavioral Health Services at Mid Coast Hospital, providing leadership and clinical consultation to physicians and providers across the continuum of care. Dr. Stenzel is also the attending psychiatrist for Senior Mental Health Services, Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program, Electroconvulsive Therapy, and provides coverage in all ARC medication assisted treatment services.
