Things to Know About Psychiatric Partial Hospital
How long is the Program?
The length of stay is based on individuals needs; most often it is from 2-4 weeks. A week or so prior to discharge, each person "steps down" i.e. comes to the program half days. This allows the individual to ease back to his/her daily structure and routine.
What is the daily schedule?
There is a daily form to fill out before the first class, so a 9am arrival at the program is expected. There are five 50 minute classes, with 10 minute breaks between. Lunch is from 12 noon to 12:40. Classes begin at 9:10 and end at 2:30pm (except Fridays, when classes end at 1:30pm).
What about lunch?
There is a refrigerator in the participants' lunch room. If you bring lunch, your name and date should be written on the outside of the bag or container. Milk, water and coffee are available for program participants.
What if I need to miss a day?
Daily participation in the program is essential. If however, there should be a need to miss a day, a phone call informing staff of the absence is required. The program number is 373.6980. If the program is closed due to a snow day, staff will call participants prior to 8:00am.
Will I be seen individually?
Medication management and learning coping skills are the cornerstone of the PHP. On a weekly basis, each person is seen by the medical staff. Each participant meets with a clinician to update the Treatment Plan weekly. Participants will also be seen individually when needed.
