MAINE LEGISLATURE HONORS MID COAST HOSPITAL

"I am proud to say that Mid Coast Hospital has set as policy the nurture and encouragement of quality nursing and nursing environments, and recognizes the connection between nursing, the healing process, and patient outcome," says Rep. Peter Kent (D-Woolwich).

Director of Maine Center for Disease Control Dora Mills, MD, encourages precautions to limit chances of contracting H1N1 Flu.

As we continue to see H1N1 spread, it is not surprising to see an increase in severity," said Dr. Dora Anne Mills, director of the Maine CDC. "However, the key messages remains the same: if you have a fever with respiratory symptoms, stay home for seven days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom free for 24 hours."

SITE PREP WORK BEGINS ON MID COAST HOSPITAL ADDITION

Construction Equipment from Harry Crooker and Sons is front and center outside the emergency department at Mid Coast Hospital. Site preparation is in progress to begin foundation work and relocate roads at the hospital in preparation for a $21 million addition for a new emergency room and new inpatient rooms.

Dimitra Voulgari-Toothaker, MS, CCC-SLP

A native of Greece, Dimitra arrived in the United States 25 years ago to study Speech Pathology.  Happily for her patients at Mid Coast, she decided to stay in the United States after completing her graduate studies.

Dimitra is a speech/language pathologist at Mid Coast.  She works with inpatients and outpatients helping those who have speech and swallowing problems as a result of stroke, illness or injury.
