Mid Coast Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology

The Mid Coast Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology promotes lifelong health in adults with diabetes through a multidisciplinary approach of medical care and patient education.

The Center’s multi-skilled team consists of a dedicated nurse practitioner and experienced nutrition and diabetes management professionals closely working with endocrinologists who are on-site every week to see patients.

Our team of certified diabetes and nutrition educators provide individuals with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes the medical, nutritional, and educational treatment needed to improve their quality of life.

What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a chronic condition in which a person has high blood sugar.

Type 1 diabetes is when the body cannot produce insulin, a hormone that is needed to get blood sugar (glucose) into the body's cells.

Type 2 diabetes is when the body's cells are insulin resistant, thus not allowing glucose into the cells.

These are the two most common forms of diabetes, but there are also less common forms such as gestational diabetes and congenital diabetes among others.
