Modern, efficient, and responsive, Mid Coast Hospital's laboratory is busy behind the scenes.

Mid Coast Hospital's Laboratory serves not only the hospital but also area doctors' offices and nursing centers, and can also make calls to private homes.

Because the lab is located on the service level of the hospital, patients will never see this spacious facility which has been designed for efficiency by the medical technologists on staff who work there. Out-patients will appreciate the friendly, convenient drawing area located on the first floor. In-patients will see a representative of the lab in their patient room.

Our full-service laboratory makes use of the hospital's pneumatic tube system which will speed specimens and results between the lab and awaiting patients.

The lab, accredited by the College of American Pathologists, the American Association of Blood Banks, the Food and Drug Administration, and The Joint Commission, has two negative pressure rooms to ensure air quality when that feature is critical.

Mid Coast Hospital's Laboratory conducts hundreds of thousands of tests each year in the following areas: Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Pathology, Point of Care Testing, Histology, and Cytology. The lab is also responsible for the hospital blood bank ensuring a safe blood supply.
