Due to the forecasted poor weather, for the safety and wellbeing of our patients, please note that Mid Coast Hospital is cancelling the Mid COVID-19 Testing Site on Tuesday, March 2. We will be emailing and calling individuals who had an appointment scheduled for testing and rescheduling them for later in the week.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update: February 26, 2021
The state of Maine announced today a change in COVID-19 vaccine eligibility. Beginning March 3, 2021, Maine residents aged 60 and above will be eligible for vaccination. As this next phase opens up, Mid Coast Hospital will prioritize Maine residents 70 and older who have already pre-registered, and will also begin scheduling vaccination appointments for residents 60 and over within the coming week.

Phone Scam Alert
Mid Coast Hospital is warning the community about a phone scam targeting community members. Scammers are calling patients and disguising themselves as Mid Coast Hospital. Please also be aware that scammers might take ongoing COVID-19 vaccination efforts as an opportunity to approach community members.

COVID-19 Update: Community Vaccinations
Mid Coast Hospital is excited that we are now able to offer COVID-19 vaccination to eligible people in our community! With the Maine CDC’s recent guidance to expand COVID-19 vaccination eligibility to people over 70 years of age, we have opened a large-scale regional vaccination clinic at Brunswick Parks & Recreation. Vaccination will be accessible to all community members who meet the Maine CDC’s current criteria.

Health Career Scholarships Available for Local Students
Applications are now open for the Herb Paris Health Career Scholarship, available to high school students and non-traditional students in our local area who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. The scholarship program sponsors Midcoast area students attending college, technical colleges, or other technical training. Each year the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary awards approximately $40,000 in Herb Paris Health Career Scholarships to deserving students.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update: January 20
Mid Coast Hospital is excited to be able to offer COVID-19 vaccination to eligible people in our community. Ability to schedule appointments is dependent upon eligibility requirements determined by the Maine CDC as well as availability of vaccine.

Mid Coast Hospital Announces Large-Scale Regional COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic
With the Maine CDC’s recent guidance to expand COVID-19 vaccination eligibility, Mid Coast Hospital announced the establishment of a large-scale regional vaccination clinic in collaboration with the Town of Brunswick. The Brunswick Parks & Recreation location on Brunswick Landing will provide additional space, ensure adequate parking, and increase vaccination throughput with the ability to provide more than 800 vaccines daily.

Mid Coast Hospital Welcomes First Baby of 2021
Mid Coast Hospital announced its first baby of 2021. August Orion Monsen was born at 5:23 a.m. on January 1, 2021 to Chloe Monsen and Kellen Bonnar of Dresden, Maine.

Mid Coast Hospital Administers First Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine to Front-Line Caregivers
Mid Coast Hospital administered the first vaccinations for COVID-19 to its front-line caregivers today. At 7:30 a.m. Paul LaPrad, MD, became the first care team member at Mid Coast Hospital to receive the vaccine. LaPrad has been a pulmonologist in the community for 25 years, and has been caring for COVID-19 patients at Mid Coast Hospital since March.
