COVID-19 Update: Safe, Accessible Care

Greetings to our community, and we hope this message finds you well. As we enter the fourth month of the COVID-19 pandemic in Maine, we would like to continue to keep our community updated on Mid Coast–Parkview Health’s response.

It has now been more than a week since Mid Coast Hospital has had a positive COVID-19 test, which we recognize as a very positive sign about the virus’s spread in our community. However, it is also important to remember that we remain in the midst of an unpredictable pandemic and still have much to learn about the COVID-19 coronavirus.

According to public health officials, COVID-19 will be part of our lives for a long time. As a result, we need to adjust to a "new normal” together. Staying home as much as possible, maintaining physical distancing, washing hands frequently, and wearing cloth face masks while in public will be crucial for the foreseeable future.

Wearing a face mask is especially important in places where physical distancing is difficult, such as grocery stores and indoor retail locations. Wearing face masks helps keep ourselves and others as healthy and safe as possible during this time. In addition to being a guard against spreading COVID-19, wearing a mask is a sign of respect for frontline workers and others around you.

To help ensure everyone in our community has a mask to wear, Mid Coast–Parkview Health is offering free cloth masks to anyone who needs one. We are also accepting donations of cloth masks, and we are deeply appreciative for the donated masks we have received so far. Masks can be picked up or dropped off just inside the Main Entrance of Mid Coast Hospital’s Parkview Campus, located at 329 Maine Street–South Entrance in Brunswick, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Please also know that Mid Coast Hospital is here to care for any healthcare needs you may have, even during these unprecedented times. The hospital is taking several measures to ensure the highest level of safety for patients, and continues to adhere to safe practices including increased hand washing, universal masking, physical distancing, and screening employees and patients prior to entering. Your regular visits to your healthcare provider are important to keep you healthy and well, and now is a good time to get back on track with these important appointments.

If you are experiencing an urgent health need, it is important to call your provider for guidance. If you are experiencing a health emergency, please call 9-1-1. We understand this is a scary and uncertain time for everyone, but your safety remains our number one priority. In many health emergencies, minutes can make a difference; please do not wait to get the care you need.

We continue to be incredibly appreciative for our community’s ongoing support, and we hope you have a wonderful week.
