Mid Coast Welcomes Cancer Care Physician

Guy Tillinghast, MD
Mid Coast Hospital welcomes oncologist Guy Tillinghast, MD, to its active medical staff and the Mid Coast Medical Group–Hematology & Oncology practice, a dedicated multi-disciplinary team that works together to provide personalized cancer care.

Dr. Tillinghast and the Mid Coast Medical Group–Hematology & Oncology practice is part of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network, a coordinated system of care in which 12 MaineHealth member and affiliate hospitals work together to deliver the highest quality cancer care as close to home as possible. The MaineHealth Cancer Care Network is supported by a grant from The Harold Alfond® Foundation, and is affiliated with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where our patients receive expedited access to second opinions, treatment of rare cancers, and access to an array of clinical trials in Boston.

"As we enter the next phase of cancer care at Mid Coast Hospital, Dr. Tillinghast is an excellent addition to the team,” said Dr. Scott Mills, Vice President of Medical Administration and Chief Medical Officer. "Along with our recent partnership with the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network, we are in the midst of building a brand new cancer care center; part of the ongoing renovation of our Parkview Campus, which is expected to open in early 2018.”

Dr. Tillinghast received his medical degree from Brown University in Providence, RI, and completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD. He is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine.

"Excellence isn't claimed, it's earned and as a local community hospital, Mid Coast Hospital is greatly positioned to affect change in many people’s lives,” said Dr. Tillinghast. "I am grateful to be able to support this effort by working with patients and the community to improve prevention efforts, helping individuals live longer and healthier lives.”
