|Mid Coast Hospital nurses Barbara McCue, RN and Andrea MacMaster, RN have received awards from the Maine American Nurses Association (ANA-Maine).
The nurses were honored at the ANA-Maine 2013 Annual Meeting held at the Portland Harbor Hotel on October 4. Attended by many nurses from across the state, this year’s event featured a special recognition service for each of the award recipients.
Nominations for the awards were solicited statewide beginning in early August. Once received, the nominations were subject to a blind review process. Out-of-state, ANA colleagues identified McCue and MacMaster as the award winners.
Director of Quality and Patient Safety at Mid Coast, McCue received the prestigious Agnes E. Flaherty Leadership Award. Each year, ANA-Maine gives this award to a nurse leader who demonstrates leadership, courage, and dedication in his or her practice. Among several distinguished qualities, the recipient must be able to value and empower others to work towards a common goal and be able to think in terms of change and renewal.
Operating room nurse MacMaster received the Sister Consuela White Spirit of Nursing Award for leadership and unwavering commitment to patient satisfaction.
