Marla Davis is the Director for Community Health Improvement and manager of Healthline, our Community Education Center. She works with a variety of community groups to provide programs, workshops, support groups, and classes for the communities we serve. She is also the host of The Family Tree, a program promoting healthy lifestyles that runs on local access TV channels.

For Marla, everyday is different. In addition to managing the Healthline activities, Marla works with ACCESS Health, our Healthy Maine Partnership, the Sagadahoc Board of Health, the United Way, YMCA and other community groups on projects of shared interest. She also has a clinical practice providing tobacco treatment to inpatients and outpatients.

What she likes about the job

"Working within my home community, at times serving people I have known my whole life. All the variety of the role including leadership, planning, and clinical specialty. I also like the opportunity to work with colleagues at the state level on the developing public health infrastructure."

What she likes about nursing

"There are so many ways nursing contributes to the health of individuals and the health of the community. This profession has provided me with 40 years of experience in many different roles."

Away from the office, Marla is an avid organic gardener producing flowers, garlic, humongous squash and tasty juicy tomatoes. She is a self described “fabric fanatic” and enjoys photography.
