Aquatic
Therapy is designed for the patient who has physical
therapy needs that cannot be met by ordinary land-based
physical therapy. Its purpose is to provide a warm
water environment that provides both buoyant support
and mild resistance to movement. This allows the
individual to gain strength through exercise with
less stress-produced pain than might occur with
traditional physical therapy methods.
Our program is:
- Located at the Bath YMCA
- Handicapped accessible
- Staffed by Mid Coast Hospital physical therapy
staff who have advanced training in aquatics
- Staffed by YMCA lifeguards
- Held Mondays and Wednesdays in early to
mid-afternoon
