Mid Coast Hospital
Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy is designed for the patient who has physical therapy needs that cannot be met by ordinary land-based physical therapy. Its purpose is to provide a warm water environment that provides both buoyant support and mild resistance to movement. This allows the individual to gain strength through exercise with less stress-produced pain than might occur with traditional physical therapy methods.

Our program is:

  • Located at the Bath YMCA
  • Handicapped accessible
  • Staffed by Mid Coast Hospital physical therapy staff who have advanced training in aquatics
  • Staffed by YMCA lifeguards
  • Held Mondays and Wednesdays in early to mid-afternoon
