For the most unusual and one of the most fun events of the coastal Maine running season, check out Mid Coast Hospital's Great Confluence Race.

The November 30 race (Satrday after Thanksgiving) has opportunities to start from either Bath or Brunswick and to run the five or ten kilometer distance. Whether runners follow Federal Street and Brunswick's Rotary Bike Path or start from Bath's Library Park and take Bath Road, it is a gorgeous run. All the runs converge at tree lined Medical Center Drive leading to a Big Top tent on the Mid Coast Hospital campus.

And while the 5 and 10 K events please the hard core runners, there is also a one mile fun run and family activities for kids of all ages. These events include walking nature trails on the hospital grounds; face painting; healthy snacks; cookie decoration; fire, rescue, and police vehicles; and ademonstrations from community service organizations.

Last year's inaugural event drew 150 registered runners and more to run in the fun run and family fun day.
