Mid Coast Hospital welcomes the lovely handmade donations which come from knitters and sewers in our communities, truly making a difference in the lives of our babies and other patients. In this fast paced world, it is wonderful for a new mom to take home a cap and/or a blanket for her newborn, knitted or crocheted with great love and care for the baby. We provide patterns here online for three possible garments – hats, baby blankets and lap robes. If you have a favorite pattern for a baby blanket, please feel free to use your own pattern when making a blanket for Mid Coast, as you know this works for you. Your donations will be appreciated regardless of the pattern! Favorite baby colors are pink and blue.
In addition, baby quilts made of fabric are also appreciated and should be 36 X 36 inches, in bright colors.
Lap robes for older patients may be in any color but red, because a red blanket denotes that a patient is in danger of falling, and that may not be the case at all.
All yarn and fabric must be machine washable. When finished, please take your donations to the Volunteer Services Office at Mid Coast Hospital (left of the Gift Shop) at 123 Medical Center Dr. in Brunswick, and please include your name and address so we may add you to our volunteer list. Thank you for the generosity of your time and energy!
