Flu Prevention


Drive-Thru Flu Clinics

In October 2021, Mid Coast–Parkview Health will provide free drive-thru flu shot clinics at Mid Coast Hospital's Parkview Campus, 329 Maine Street, Brunswick.

Clinics will be offered 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates:

  • October 2 and 3
  • October 9 and 10
  • October 16 and 17
  • October 23 and 24

Getting a flu vaccine is an essential part of protecting your health and your family’s health this season. Flu vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death.

Getting a flu vaccine this fall will be more important than ever, not only to reduce your risk from flu but also to help conserve potentially scarce healthcare resources. During the COVID-19 pandemic, reducing the overall burden of respiratory illnesses is important to protect vulnerable populations at risk for severe illness, the healthcare system, and other critical infrastructure.

  • When are the drive-thru flu shot clinics offered?
    Clinics will be offered every weekend in October at Mid Coast Hospital’s Parkview Campus, 329 Maine Street in Brunswick and at varying Mid Coast Medical Group practice locations. The fall 2021 drive-thru clinic schedule is available at www.midcoasthealth.com/flu.
  • Who is eligible to get a flu shot?
    Mid Coast–Parkview Health flu shot clinics are available to anyone in the community over six months of age.
  • Is it safe to get a flu shot during the COVID-19 pandemic?
    Mid Coast–Parkview Health is following CDC guidelines at all clinic locations to ensure safety of both patients and clinic staff. Clinic team members will wear face masks when giving vaccines, and all individuals receiving a vaccine will be required to wear a mask. Health experts recommend everyone six months and older get a flu shot this year to best ensure your health and protect the health of the community.
  • Will I be screened for COVID-19?
    All individuals will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure prior to receiving the flu vaccination. Individuals with COVID-like symptoms or exposure to the virus will be instructed to wait before getting a vaccine.
  • Can I get a COVID-19 vaccine at the drive-thru flu shot clinic?
    No. Visit midcoasthealth.com/vaccine for the most recent COVID-19 vaccine clinic information.
  • What is the cost to get a flu shot?
    All Mid Coast–Parkview Health flu vaccinations are offered at no cost. We do have the ability to bill medical insurance for those receiving the vaccine. Please bring your insurance card if you have one.
  • How long will it take to get a flu shot?
    Our flu shot clinics are offered as a drive-thru only. Individuals will be vaccinated in the order they arrived. After receiving the flu shot, individuals are asked to remain onsite for 15 minutes following the vaccination.
  • Can I get my child vaccinated at any Mid Coast–Parkview Health flu shot clinic?
    Yes. Pediatric and adult vaccines are available at all Mid Coast–Parkview Health clinic sites.
  • What should I wear to the Mid Coast–Parkview Health flu shot clinics?
    All individuals receiving a vaccine will be required to wear a mask. Adults: please wear loose-fitting clothing with the ability to expose the shoulder of the arm in which you wish to receive the shot. Young children under the age of four should wear shorts or loose-fitting pants with a drawstring waist to allow for the upper thigh to be exposed.
  • Will there be high-dose vaccine available at the Mid Coast–Parkview Health flu shot clinics?
    High-dose vaccine is not available at the drive-thru clinics. While the CDC has not expressed a preference for any flu vaccine indicated for people 65 years and older, we recommend that you contact your primary care provider to schedule an appointment for the high-dose vaccine.   • Can I still get my flu vaccination at my provider’s office?
    Yes. If you have an appointment scheduled at with a Mid Coast Medical Group provider, the vaccine will offered to you at the time of your appointment.
  • What is required for consent/approval for a flu shot?
    All persons receiving a flu shot at a Mid Coast–Parkview Health drive-thru clinic will be required to sign a consent form. It is required for anyone under the age of 18 to have the consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian.
