VISITING MID COAST
If you have any cold symptoms, please DO NOT VISIT PATIENTS at Mid Coast Hospital.
Children under 5 years of age are strongly discouraged from visiting during respiratory illness season.
Our patients, healthcare providers, and staff thank you!
In Maine, influenza season typically begins in October and peaks mid-winter. In order to prevent serious illness that can lead to hospitalization and possible death in vulnerable populations, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone six months of age and older get a yearly flu vaccine.
At Mid Coast Hospital we recommend the following steps to keep our community healthy and well during flu season:
1. Get a flu shot every year. As part of our commitment to care for the health of our community CHANS Home Health Care partners with local organizations to offer a vigorous schedule of free community vaccination clinics throughout the Midcoast region.
2. Prevent the spread of germs. Cough and sneeze into your sleeve and wash your hands frequently and vigorously with soap and water.
3. Stay away from others as much as possible if you are sick. If you or your children have any cold symptoms stay home from school or work and please DO NOT VISIT patients at Mid Coast Hospital.
4. Visit your doctor for regular check-ups. Routine care will help keep you healthy and well all year and keep you up-to-date on all your immunizations. Find a primary care doctor.
