As a female body matures, each stage brings different needs and concerns. That's why we provide a full range of gynecological services for all phases of life. Beginning at age 15, people with female reproductive organs should have an annual visit with an OB/GYN or a Midwife to discuss pelvic health, as well as potential risk and concerns.

Traditional Birthing in an Advanced Care Setting

Our team of Certified Nurse Midwives practice in collaboration with the OB/GYN physicians to offer a full range of maternity care options to meet the needs and desires of every woman.

Midwives at Mid Coast Hospital provide the option for families to have a home-like birth, knowing that a full array of maternity services—including fetal monitoring, lab, anesthesiology, and physicians—are immediately available if needed. Our midwives provide 24/7 care, working to ensure women have every amenity available to make their birth experience as personal as possible.

CenteringPregnancy®

CenteringPregnancy is an evidenced-based model of group prenatal care that integrates basic prenatal health assessment and education with social support. The Centering model allows women with similar “due months” to meet in a group setting, participate in their own care and create supportive relationships that last far beyond the birth of their child.

Facilitated by our nationally certified nurse midwives, CenteringPregnancy provides expectant mothers with group prenatal care, education, empowerment, and support in convenient two-hour sessions. This approach to prenatal care has resulted in better health outcomes and long-term support for hundreds of area families.
