During
2000 and 2001, students in 16 area schools participated in a special
project hand painting ceramic tiles. These young artists were asked
to paint a message of their choosing for the patients, families
and staff of the new Mid Coast Hospital. Grades ranged from two
through six.
The
project resulted in 714 tiles which are now on display at seven highly visible
locations throughout the first and second floor.
The tiles created by the young people are a tremendous contribution
to our new hospital. They warm the hospital corridors and provide
cheer to all who walk by. Some bring instant smiles, others bring
reflections of times past or plans for the future. Every tile serves
to inspire; these young people succeeded well in speaking a very
personal message that will last as long as Mid Coast Hospital stands
to serve the communitya very, very long time.
