Knitters' Resources - Newborn Cap

This is a suggested pattern. You may use your own pattern.
  • Size #4 or #5 double pointed needles
  • Pink or blue baby or sport weight yarn
  • Cast on 72 stitches (24 each needles)
  • Knit every row for 45 rows (5 inches or more)
Decrease as follows:
Row 1 *K 6 K 2 tog Repeat from * across
Row 2 and all even rows K across
Row 3 K 5 K 2 tog Repeat from * across
Row 5 K 4 K 2 tog Repeat from * across
Row 7 K 3 K 2 tog Repeat from * across
Row 9 K 2 K 2 tog Repeat from * across
Row 11 *K 2 tog Repeat from * across
  • To finish off: Cut yarn leaving 6 or more inches. Pull through remaining stitches and knot. Use remaining yarn at crochet loop on top of cap.
  • You may vary as you wish-like inserting hearts, animals, boats, etc. into the design.
  • Caps may also be crocheted.
